Learning the Programs

Saint Mary's offer a plethora of unique programs aimed to enhance the student experience. The High Potential Program celebrated 50 years this November!

To celebrate the High Potential Program’s 50th Anniversary, the Alumni office hosted a reunion lunch. Every individual that arrived was excited to celebrate the program, see their previous professors, and connect with their peers.

At this event, I worked the check-in station, ensuring that guests were welcomed properly. Additionally, I aided in registering a walk-in guest when necessary.

While the event was happening, it occurred to me I did not truly know everything there was know about this amazing program. Following the work day, I took a few minutes to do some research. What did the program offer? Why is it so important we offer this program?

Within a few clicks I discovered the High Potential Program is geared toward first generation and or low income students. The program offers comprehensive support through peer mentors and coaches to help guide an individual throughout their college experience.

Hospitality Hack: Learn the programs. In taking the time to learn more about what programs an organization offers, you remember what makes the place unique and can further engage with others on the topic.

This event encouraged me to dive deeper into what Saint Mary’s has to offer. It was special to witness alumni come back to celebrate and appreciate the program. There was no doubt this program has created successful students and further developed and strong community with tight knit bonds! The passion for this program was evident and it is important more people learn about why it so special.
