The walls of the Saint Mary’s Museum of Art are covered with bright colors and uplifting messages. Currently, artist Lisa Congdon ‘91 is showcasing her work in the museum. This past Wednesday evening, the Alumni Office hosted a VIP opening for her exhibition titled, Hold it Lightly.
It was nothing short of wonderful, there were colorful flowers on each table and every employee was dressed in bright pinks, yellows, and oranges. For this event, I was tasked with uploading the auction items into GiveSmart. The art pieces were priced relatively similar, making the task simple. The challenge is always to ensure the information is uploaded correctly, as the proceeds go directly to the museum. It was a special experience to have a sneak peak before the exhibit was open to the public.

Hospitality Hack: Happiness is found in people, places, and art. It is important to take the time to acknowledge these blessings. When you acknowledge these blessings, you open the ability to be gracious and kind to everyone you encounter.
At the event, I not only was able to see the artwork in person but also meet Congdon. This reminded me how grateful I am for this Internship opportunity. I am blessed to learn important workplace and life skills, while also experiencing very special events on campus. I welcomed the guests at check-in and gave them any information they may have requested. Just like the colors painted on the walls, the event was happy. The guests were delighted by the artwork and one another.
