Shortly after being hired as Philip's assistant, I was given my very first assignment. After our weekly check-in meeting, I had a full list of people to contact. This gave me the perfect opportunity to put my emailing skills to the test. In order to create an effective line of communication, the initial email must be kind while to the point.

For example, I needed to contact Becky from the Recreation Center to discuss the guest past policy for Reunion Weekend. I sent the following email:

Hospitality Hack: Open up a line of effective communication.

Through each email exchange, I was able to get all the necessary details for the weekend while also opening up the conversation surrounding the upcoming event. By having these conversations, I helped develop a space where people could communicate with me whenever they may have questions or concerns. Additionally, I was able to coordinate special events for the weekend like campus tours and children's book readings in the library!
